We are proud to announce the launch of Facebook Connect integration on the Webs platform!

You can now harness the power of the world’s most popular social network to enhance your sites’ community interaction, bolster site traffic and drive brand awareness.

How does it work?

The new Facebook Connect feature allows for a smooth, seamless integration of Facebook directly with your Members App.

When enabled, your site visitors can join your site with their Facebook accounts, bypassing the need to remember a new password.  Existing members can also login with Facebook and link their current member profile with their Facebook accounts.  Members who login with Facebook Members can then use their Facebook identity to interact with your site and can even choose to post back comments and status updates to their Facebook news feed –promoting their content (and yours) to a massive community on Facebook! I’m pleased to announce the launch of a feature I’ve had my eyes on for a looong time.  As you all are aware, for years our site owners have requested the ability to have additional “Admins” on their sites.  There are several use cases for this including a group collaborating around a site, or a web designer who wants to administer all of his clients’ sites from one dashboard.  Last year, we released the WebsID system and “master dashboard” which you can now access by logging into webs via your email/password combination.  What we did not have is a way to set admins for your website.  Well now we do!  You can now set members to “Admin” status and give them full editing access to your site (with a few limitations). The new site manager has been released!  With this release, we really wanted to streamline the editing experience and remove as much superfluous content as possible.  Here’s some of the changes:

1. No more big app icons on the top of the site manager.  These are replaced with two simple buttons, one for adding a new page, and one for adding a new app.
– We’ve also moved the function to add a link to navbar, inside the “add a page” popover
– And we’ve added a link to the app store from the add a page popover as well READ MORE

Couple new features we released yesterday:

1) You can now delete members right from your site.  If you are logged in as the site owner, there is a new “delete member” link on your members’ profiles.  You don’t have to be in the sitebuilder anymore to perform this action.

2) When a member is deleted, they can no longer rejoin the site immediately.  Instead, they will sit as a “pending member” until you approve them. This is part of the member banning option that a lot of you have been asking for. READ MORE

This morning we made some changes to our commenting system, mostly to reduce spam comments in our system.  Comment threads on apps now have a new link that appears when a comment is hovered over that says “report as spam”. Only members of a site who are logged in will see this feature. Each member can only report each comment one time.
When a comment is reported, a couple things happen:
– If a comment is reported 3 times, it is automatically collapsed

– The flagging is logged in our database so we can do analysis on spammers and block them across the network READ MORE

Today we launched fixes and enhancements for the photo app. Here’s a short summary:

  • Default Settings – Site owners are now able to set default album settings. What does this mean? Default album is the album in which your member photo submissions are automatically placed. If the default setting (defined in the gallery) changes, then it will automatically affect all albums that are currently using the default setting.

  • Moving Photos – You can now move photos from one album to another by hovering over the image and using the move icon.
