The Next Generation of Site Building is Here — SiteBuilder3

We are thrilled to unveil today our latest SiteBuilder! Over a full year of planning, designing, and development has resulted in our best builder yet.

The new builder provides you with a fresh take on how to create great, professional looking websites without technical or coding skills. If you know how to drag & drop elements you can build an amazing website in a few minutes.

We’ve revolutionized and re-vamped the Webs SiteBuilder to give you:

  • A BRAND NEW drag and drop interface – The new Webs interface is now as easy as drag and drop.  Grab modules from the dock, drop them into your page, and click on them to edit in real time.
  • New highly customizable templates – Dozens of brand new, professionally designed, very customizable themes. The new Theme Designer lets you customize backgrounds, colors, fonts, and more to make your theme your own.
  • More design options – A completely new header editor also lets you create a website that can easily match your brand.  We’ve also added an extensive selection of custom fonts, image frames, buttons, icons, and more!
  • More page layout options – New page layouts that support carousel slideshows, sidebars and more. No need to search how to add great imagery to your website, we have done the work for you.
  • Simple Social Media Integration – We’ve also made it easier to connect your visitors to your social profiles, add social widgets, and encourage sharing.

These are just a few of the dozens of new features in SiteBuilder3, and we’re just getting started!  Try it out and see why SiteBuilder3 really is the next generation of website creation.

Put all these great new features to work for you right now.
Start building the website of tomorrow, today!

I’d really love to jump into using the new tool, but It seems the Templates aren’t going to carry across. I can’t seem to find one that fits as well as my current, along with some other issues like the Sidebar not showing up on a Blog page, and some trouble getting elements to switch sides without changing the full layout.

I dislike the new editing format. The look and smoothness of it is fantastic! But I feel like a lot of features that I use for my website were taken away, Thank goodness we were not forced to update…yet, but I do wonder if that will be forced onto us. I will be throughoughly displeased if my website loses most of its features that I’ve seen were taken away with this update.

    I hate it.
Sorry, no offence meant, but please change it back. Or tell me how to disable it when creating a new site. I have been trying to create a site but there is no good widgets, no sidebar, less templates, etc. I loved how webs was different from things like weebly, etc. but now it has changed so much, and, in my opinion, for the worst. I want to make a new site but I want to make it like my old one. 🙁

Sorry to hear that Amber. Did you know that the new SiteBuilder provides you with a lot more flexibility to edit your templates and change them into anything you want and any color. Additionally you can add any widget you like using the HTML module. You can also choose to have a layout that offers sidebars by clicking on the page settings option within the SiteBuilder.

I actually switched into the newest version of the sitebuilder. I like it alot. I know i can do so much more with this one. only the reason i switched back to the sitebuilder 2 is i want my customers to know that the site will be under construction. I like the flexibility of this new version. I know I have to generate some more content which i don’t have to worry about. Thanks webs! Oh, by the way i know there are few things which is not so great but i believe webs will take care of it soon. especially the title changing one. 🙂

I have looked throughout this entirely new Site Builder and ya’ll have gotten rid of somethings and added more things, while some of us like the older editions because You’re able to keep the footer at the bottom which i have found a way around. But I Love the new Modules and being able to have my Facebook & Twitter Feeds on the same page at the same time and it does kind of suck the way ya’ll have done somethings like making pictures bigger and stuff, I have to upgrade/reupgrade to premium again. which I’m going to have to end up doing. I Love the new Site Builder and if i have to get some features by re-upgrading my account then i guess I’m going to have to. I Love Webs and I’ve been with ya’ll as a customer for almost 7 years next week.

I’m trying to write new entries in my blog but the interface does not work well. The screen freezes a lot and I cannot enter anything in the body section (the cursor appears sometimes only.) Is this because I’m using Google Chrome?

Also, I tried to write in Japanese and French, and the system does not accept special characters.

Please let me know when these issues are solved. I can’t publish my site until then.

The new sitebuilder looks nice, however it appears that there are NO changes to the webstore section of the site. I would like to be able to rearrange listing in the store. It does not make sense that you can drag and drop things everywhere else on the site except for the webstore. Will there be changes made to the webstore section? If not then I will pass on upgrading.

I used to be able to download form submissions as a excel or .csv file. It doesn’t appear that feature exists in SB3.
It is something I really need – will I simply just have to revert back to SB2 for this? and will SB2 disappear eventually anyway?

Please note that the credit shop option was removed before this new site builder. The footer section in SiteBuilder 3 is editable for premium users, previous versions of site builder did not offer any footers at all. If you like to add a sidebar to your site, you can do so via the page settings menu.

I am very unhappy with the switch. I loved having a HUGE selection of templates to work with, and the layout was much easier to work with if I did not want to edit my headers and footers much (never did get those drop downs to work properly). I am glad I have not been forced to change over my personal professional website, becuase there is no way any of the current templates could handle my site the way they are – it just is not feasible. I would love to have the option to keep mine as is, and to build new sites using that older style of setup with all those options.

I am getting really tired of all these “Website Builders” taking away quality service that allows the user to make completely custom websites – such as taking away the choice of having a website be HTML only for their own unique layouts, rather than be forced into using a drag-and-drop cookiecutter template/widget process.

I will be moving my personal websites that I made entirely from scratch (from the layout being my own unique idea drawn on Adobe to the HTML being coded entirely by me) to another webhosting provider. The website builders have zero use to me and are entirely pointless.

Bring back the option of users who prefer HTML-only websites.

A lot of my friends, who’ve been using it for about 6 years now don’t like it either. and they’re deleting theirs too. we have this thing… and there’s about 20-30 of us, and we just hate it. Webs was the only thing we had. And now there isnt any other site builder that gave us what webs did. its confusing, and a lot more complicated, not the most user friendly and we need the shoutboxes. it was so easy to use, and now its just like all of the other site builders…

I think the drag and drop editor is easier but I reverted back to the old builder in 5 minutes. First of all you got rid of some great widgets like PollDaddy polls, games, Weather Widgets and others. Secondly there are a very limited number of templates and most of them are fancy. You can’t size your images the way you want without cropping them. Another bad thing is that you can’t have sidebars on app pages. You made Webs more like Weebly and less like Webs. I think it would be nice if you made the new Webs have the same features as the old Webs plus the new features of the new webs with the drag and drop editor and undo and redo.

      Jun 12, 2012 - 09:40 AM

@Samus: Please note that you can still add any widget of your choice by using custom HTML module. As for the templates, all templates are 100% editable and we are working to expand the available selection. The image re-sizing has been improved to ensure that all images users add to their sites keep their image ration thus helping you post the best quality imagery possible.

Positive: it really is easy to use
Negative: how can you say it is a HUGE leap forward and contains innovations that are ABOVE AND BEYOND anything else available today when you cannot even do a global edit on a side panel and have it apply to all over pages but must PAINFULLY load modules individually for every page on your website! This is not forwards, this is BACKWARDS! Why is it also not possible to embed flash movies and when you do by the difficult (for many) html work around, that you cannot resize! Both these features worked find in Classic.
