We are proud to announce the launch of Facebook Connect integration on the Webs platform!

You can now harness the power of the world’s most popular social network to enhance your sites’ community interaction, bolster site traffic and drive brand awareness.

How does it work?

The new Facebook Connect feature allows for a smooth, seamless integration of Facebook directly with your Members App.

When enabled, your site visitors can join your site with their Facebook accounts, bypassing the need to remember a new password.  Existing members can also login with Facebook and link their current member profile with their Facebook accounts.  Members who login with Facebook Members can then use their Facebook identity to interact with your site and can even choose to post back comments and status updates to their Facebook news feed –promoting their content (and yours) to a massive community on Facebook!

How to enable Facebook Connect on Your Site?

Activating Facebook Connect is easy.

  1. Visit the “Settings” page of your Members App
  2. Click the checkbox (towards the bottom of the page)  to enable Facebook Connect.
  3. Click the “Generate” link to create your Facebook app
  4. Visit the Facebook Developer page and copy your “Application Secret
Hint: When copy/pasting your Application Secret, make sure you don’t confuse it with the API Key.  In order to properly setup Facebook Connect, you need to use the Application Secret.
  5. Click Submit and you’re done!

Facebook is becoming increasingly central to the way people community and share content on the web.  Its now quite clear that Facebook has become an important strategy to grow a website’s popularity and traffic.  Today, we’ve announce Facebook Connect, a great way to use the power of Facebook to grow and enhance your site, letting members join and share your content with Facebook.  As Facebook continues to expand its external features, we will also continue to update our functionality so you can fully utilize this incredible platform.

Enable Facebook Connect and start growing your community today!

Until next time,
Happy Site Building!

@Ahmed: Please remember to copy the Application Secret code not the API key. If you need any further assistance, please contact our support team.

This is cool, maybe connecting/signing in using Twitter as well would be a good addition too seeing as that is a massive network of people as well. I know that most of my members are Twitter users when not quite as many are facebook users!! Anyway, I’m going to test out adding this myself, thanks again webs.com!

@coinsguy2010: Not sure what you mean by “Google doesn’t work for your site”. Did you mean about getting your site listed on the search engine?

Does this also work with Facebook Fan Pages, also?
If so, do I have to go through a different process so the application doesn’t integrate under my personal profile?

I really hated all the website creating sites on the internet but webs seems to be simple enough then other sites because other sites have long subnames so this makes it a whole lot easier.

Despite mention in your recent e-mail that the fan page box “Enables Facebook Page owners to attract and gain Likes from their own website,” the FB connect app seems to require a personal profile on FB, rather than the business page (as I have, for security reasons,) that you claim this will work for.

I would love to connect my webs site to FB, but FB doesn’t seem to really let you do ANYTHING with a business page. Feel free to let me know if there’s something I’m missing or if you’re aware of any changes that will allow me functionality in the future.

I went to “Site Settings” and I went to “Applications”. I can’t find “1.Visit the “Settings” page of your Members App ” in your fisrt step. Maybe its just me after 2 and 1/2 hours on 24.6kps dial-up trying to find how to get the Facebook logo linked to my webs.com site. This is the closest I’ve coem all night to getting the job done – but I give up. I’m too exhausted to do anymore.
So where in the webs.com site is the Settings etc etc?

I’m trying to link my newly created website to a … newly created Facebook account in order to provide the “Facebook Connect” possibility to my future members. But, it seems that Facebook won’t let me do it the way I want ! My FB account has been verified by email and by providing my cellular phone number and I keep getting this message : ” Your FB account hasn’t been verified, please provide your phone number or credit card number ?!” Now, I’m sure this operation was properly done. Any idea to sort this out ?
    (sorry for my english …)

I’ve looked on my settings page and my app page and there is NO checkbox for Facebook. I see I’m not the only one with this issue, so, where are these settings? Also, every video link here no longer exists.

This may be a stupid question — I have a freewebs website (obviously) and I have a fan page on Facebook that has been around for a couple years already. If I do this, does it link to my already-existing Facebook fan page? I don’t want to start from scratch. I tried this a few months ago but it appears the app starts a new FB page. Help?

@Jenn: That’s correct, it will link to your current page.

I have not been able to find the check box on any of my setting pages. Also all the video links on this page are dead. Please let me know exactly where I can find the check box or if this process has changed.
