What's been going on at Webs

We’ve had ups and downs over the past couple of weeks, and here is what we have to show for it.

Videos – Uploading is back!
After a long period in hiding, video uploading is back! You can still embed videos using a URL, or by searching YouTube, but now have the ability to upload your own videos as well. Within three weeks, your site members will be able to upload videos to your site as well based on your site member settings.

The rebirth of the video uploader includes much more generous video size restrictions, as well as supporting far more codec’s. The video encoder delivers higher resolution videos, and a new video player.

The new uploader is not yet available on normal site pages, and can be accessed within the Video Application. I had hoped to see it on normal pages soon, but because of plans around the Site Builder itself, I do not think it will be available for some time.

Blogs – Enhancement
In the past, there was no way to monitor the comments that were posted to your blog. They now can be. turn on the feature within Site Settings of your blog to approve comments before they display within your blog. This will help you reduce spam, inappropriate comments, and off topic comments. For those who are still using the old blog tool and not the Blog Application, this, as well as other Member permissions and settings, are not available. All new users are using the Blog Application.

New Forum – Community and Support trying to raise the bar
We have spoken about this many times, and we are getting close. We are integrating WebsID into a third-party forum application that will be released in two weeks. This forum will replace the current Open Forums in the community section, and will also serve as the Support forum. With moderation, karma, and all the little shinny things that great forums have, we really hope that this forum will be successful where others have failed.
