Will Facebook’s Slingshot App Challenge Snapchat?
In a story published yesterday, Financial Times reported that Facebook might be having another go at the Snapchat crowd. Despite their rebuffed attempts at a Snapchat takeover, Facebook apparently remains interested in the market. According to the article, Facebook is working on a short video messaging app called Slingshot, which could released as early as this month.

There have been a few updates to the Snapchat app since its inception, including adding filters, font changes, and, most recently, Storytelling. But yesterday, Snapchat threw a curve-ball and finally brought the “chat” to Snapchat.

Facebook’s monumental acquisition of mobile-messaging service WhatsApp for $19B several weeks ago was primarily to acquire WhatApp’s user population of over 450 million.  Even more incredible than this enormous user population is how rapidly the service has grown.
