The much-anticipated release of the Apple Watch has come and gone. However, reviews are still piling in to determine which apps for the watch are worth the download.
We found a comprehensive list of Apple Watch apps which describe all 63 available currently for download, but we thought we would highlight the 6 that we thought were handy for the small business owner.
As one of the most-used business apps already, Evernote provides a way for Apple Watch users to access their account to dictate notes, check off tasks, and get reminders. One of the most interesting features is the ability to search through the app by voice (using the microphone on the watch).
Again, Slack is a very commonly used app for business users already. If you want to continue using this app to its full potential, we suggest downloading the Apple Watch app, which will bring your private messages and name mention notifications right to your wrist to keep your team organized through communication.

3. American Airlines, TripAdvisor, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts
This is a 3-apps-for-one entry since they all have to do with travel. There are a few cool things about each of these watch apps. First, when planning your inevitable business trip to meet a client or potential vendor you will love that you have downloaded the American Airlines app. It is the first airline in the US with an app and it not only will give you critical info like gate changes and baggage claim numbers (which Passbook can give you), but it will show your flight path map until the moment you touch down! And since Yelp isn’t on the app scene yet, TripAdvisor is a best bet in finding nearby restaurants or local hotspots when you are on that business trip. Finally, we had to mention the Starwood watch app since it has the intriguing feature to unlock your hotel room door with the swipe of the wrist!
To manage your finances, Mint is a handy tool to help set monthly spending goals and to not go over your budget. If you’re lucky and save enough money, you can spend your extra savings on a new BMW and use their app to ensure locked doors and manage the charge for your electric-powered car!
5. NPR One
We’ve mentioned before how important it is to keep up with the trends as a small business owner, and NPR One app will help you do just that. The non-profit US public radio network lets you search podcasts and shows using voice dictation. It also imports all of your playlists from your iPhone to make sure you don’t miss a beat!
6. Social Apps
Stay on top of your social media marketing game by downloading the apps for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Both Twitter and Instagram allow you to scroll through your feeds, and all three apps will send you notifications to let you know when it is time to engage with your community. However, Facebook mysteriously still hasn’t come out with the app yet…so be on the lookout for when it is available!
