Last year around this time, Twitter commissioned a study to determine how the network influenced people’s purchasing behavior around the holidays. You may find the results in the infographic below surprising. Here are a few items that stood out to us:
– 30% of Twitter users begin thinking – and tweeting – about holiday shopping before October. In case you haven’t checked your calendar lately, that’s right now folks. If people are already talking about holiday shopping, that means they’re already primed to hear messages about your products and services.
– 64% of Twitter users have purchased a product because of Twitter. If that stat doesn’t motivate you to plan your holiday Twitter marketing TODAY, I don’t know what will.
– 62% of shoppers tweet about purchases they’ve made. This means it’s really important for you to make it easy for people to start conversations around what you’re selling. Think about creating a hashtag for your brand, a line of products, or a single item for the season. Market that hashtag at point-of-sale, your website, and social media.
