Editing Google: Exercising Your Right To Be Forgotten
If you happen to live in the European Union and have some questionable content out there on the internet, you can now officially apply to have it removed from Google’s search results. Just fill out this handy webform from Google. According to Mashable, Google received 12,000 request submissions in the first 24 hours since launch.

Now, before you get excited about eradicating that video of you doing a dramatic reading of Green Eggs and Ham at a college poetry workshop, there are a few caveats to your ‘right to be forgotten’. First, you have to live in the EU to apply. Second, your link will only be removed from the search results of EU-specific versions of Google, NOT Google.com (TheNextWeb). And finally, know that just because you submit a request for your link to be removed, that doesn’t guarantee it will be so. According to the webform, Google’s advisory team will:

“…assess each individual request and attempt to balance the privacy rights of the individual with the public’s right to know and distribute information. When evaluating your request, we will look at whether the results include outdated information about you, as well as whether there’s a public interest in the information…”

Say Hello to TwoDots (And Goodbye To Everything Else)
As a person who spends a lot of time on underground public transportation without Internet access, I play a fair amount of the minimalistic iOS game Dots. And while I have always appreciated that it’s free to play and there are very few upsells in the game, the marketer in me has always wondered how the monetization of it works out for the maker, Betaworks.

By contrast, the Dots sequel TwoDots is an adorable hellbeast of upselling and addiction (yes, TwoDots was a big part of my weekend).

Whether it was the original intent or not, it certainly seems that Dots became an information-gathering device for the behaviors and preferences of players which helped inform the architecture of TwoDots. For example, there is an option in Dots to play either a timed game or by number of moves. In TwoDots, there are no timed options. So it would seem that the developers might have noted that people were engaging more with number of moves and structured the new game around that.

This kind of analytics should absolutely be applied to your small business. Look at the ways that people are engaging with your products and services and adjust your offerings accordingly.
