Introducing page cloning

They say time is money, and that’s never more true than for small business owners who wear multiple hats. As the owner, marketer, and employee, any extra time you spend in one role takes you away from another. That’s why we’re always trying to listen to our users for ways we can make site building take even less time.

We have heard feedback recently that the ability to clone certain features from one page to the next would really be helpful. So we put our engineers to work, and we’re happy to announce that page cloning is now available!

Have sidebar elements and other layout customizations you want to duplicate across multiple pages? Now you can use the “Clone a Page” option to do just that.

To get started, click Pages at the top of your account to pull up your list of pages. The clone page option appears when you hover on the right side of the list item next to Page Settings.

Page cloning steps

Clicking this option will create a new page just below the original with “clone” as part of the new page’s title. You can immediately rename the page.

The best way to use this feature is to copy a format from one page to the next. In the below example, we have a custom image portfolio created using the image module.

Instead of creating another portfolio page from scratch and dragging the modules again, you can simply clone the page, and replace the images.

Page cloning 3

You can also use the Clone feature to re-create sidebar elements and other customizations.

We hope this new feature saves you time and helps you get back to business faster!

Nice addition … but what would really make a difference to me and I suspect many other Web users would be the ability to clone my blog template so I don’t have to recreate it from scratch every time I write a new post, which is two or three times a week. I waste a lot of time doing that and it is incredibly annoying.

It’s the biggest single reason I do not recommend Webs to others who are looking for a web host. In fact I tell them this is the reason they should NOT use Webs.

A blog template with the ability to add sidebar and other customisations such as WordPress offers would be ideal. For example, I would love to be able to ‘Subscribe to my posts’ in every blog post I send out.
