Great list but i don’t think DMOZ is no longer free. I’ve submitted my website 4 months ago and haven’t heard from them. Found out that most editors are prioritizing those who pay them for inclusion. Yikes!

Indeed this is a great list to try and promote my website. The DMOZ is not easy to get your site indexed, many comments on their site showing that it takes a long time to get indexed and many never get indexed.

Found this post far too general to really provide any value. Some notable networks are missing. LinkedIn Company profiles should be on the list. A pagerank of 10 makes LinkedIn an automatic win for your company to be listed on. Why isn’t this on the list or for that fact Yelp! Would you consider expanding your list?

Great article! Some of these I need to start looking into –and using! Just a few more: for my business, ads on craigslist have brought about 15% of my business to me (I own a bed & breakfast). I also took advantage of the $100 free ad credit that google offered. I only got a few hundred dollars in business from it, but….it was free!

Thanks for the info. Something else you could include to your list are free classified ads sites. I get good response from submitting an ad with my URL to those sites like gumtree.com. You can also make a Facebook page too. That’s free.

Dmoz does take forever. But listing on yahoo directory shouldn’t be an issue like dmoz.

Social Medias like facebook and twitter can help gain a lot of traffic. We should just write quality content and build large fan base.
