Webs was founded ten years ago by three brothers: Zeki, Haroon, and Idris Mokhtarzada. Each brother has a specialty: Zeki, who studied Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Maryland (UMD) became Webs’ Chief Technology Officer; Haroon, who studied Economics at UMD became Webs’ Chief Executive Officer; and Idris, who was a teenager when Webs was founded, and who has worked at Webs for almost half his life (!), has become an expert on emerging technologies, product development, and information architecture.
I recently sat down with the brothers to ask them some questions about the company they started a decade ago. They’ve guided, shaped, and evolved Webs ever since, and their passion for Webs is evident in these fascinating clips:
CTO Zeki tells us what he likes best about his job:
CEO Haroon shares what inspires him:
Co-founders Zeki, Haroon, and Idris discuss the pros and cons of running a business with your brothers:
We hope you enjoyed these peeks into the minds that launched your favorite site-building tool.
We’ll have some more clips up next week, so check back. We’ll also be offering some amazing giveaways toward the end of the month to express our gratitude to you, our loyal customers. Without you, Webs would not be celebrating its 10th anniversary!

As polite as I can be, are these “brothers” still in charge? Did they decide upon an 8 page limit? I’m not sure that’s what they envisioned when they started Freewebs.
