In a lot of ways, websites are like books. They tell the story of a person, business, or hobby and they take a lot of work to create. Our example site this week was made by someone skilled in both fields. Jerielng.com is the website of Jeriel Ng, an up and coming author, who uses his website as a central hub of information for his fans. Check out the site for yourself:
This is another example of a website that takes a minimalistic approach to website design. The top navigation bar looks clean and crisp by organizing all vital links with the help of a drop-down menu.
In addition to simple to navigate site layout, Jeriel uses these great Webs features to jazz it up:
- Blogs App is used to keep in touch with fans and post interesting updates. Remember adding a blog app to your website is a great way to showcase your personality.
- Biography page is used to let website visitors learn more about the author. Did you know adding your picture to the About page can increase sales?
- Contact Form is used to provide a simple way to lets users get in touch.
Jeriel’s minimalistic design is not only easy to look at, but it also makes it easy for visitors to navigate the page and is keeps the content as the center of attention. Try simplifying your site to get your visitors to focus on the important things on your site.
Another great idea that Jariel utilizes: proudly showcasing social pages on his website. Jariel has a Facebook Fan page for his business that is showcased in the sidebar of the website.
What is a Facebook Fan page?
Not to be confused with your profile page, fan pages are public pages that many businesses use to have a presence on Facebook. Instead of connecting you with “friends,” Pages amass “fans” that you can keep in contact with. The biggest benefit of having a page is that it is indexed by Google and it available to view even if you are not logged into Facebook. This makes promoting the page a whole lot easier. Another great thing about pages is that pages are much more customizable than profiles. Learn More.
Congrats to Jeriel for such an awesome site! That’s it for this week’s example site, if you liked it or if you want to be considered for a future example site, leave a message in the comments.
Until next time,
Happy site building!
