It’s a great graphic BUT it is an article in and of itself. This graphic does not lend itself to expansion on the points because you can’t add text without breaking up the original graphic into individual pictures.

I think the main point of the graphic is that a lot of little unnecessary expenses can really kill you. Too many times, people are only concerned with the large expenses and completely forget about the little stuff.

Now the section on marketing and advertising expenses is quite debatable. While print ads are the most expensive, if they get people and sales though, they are worth it. TV advertising is nice, but from what I’ve seen, you have to spend a lot on ads to make it worthwhile, or else you find it isn’t effective at all. People forget about you pretty quickly. Online advertising might work, but you have to get people to your site first. What business you’re in will be the most important factor how you choose to advertise. You’re better off seeing what your competitors or similar businesses are doing. No matter how you choose to spend your money, its more important if you get results rather than how much you spend.

And, as always, good record keeping is important. Not only when dealing with due dates, but also when its tax time. You might be surprised what tax deductions are out there.

Great blog post! I love how you used images, charts, and graphs to get your point across. So much more interesting and informative than just a hand written blog! Thanks for a great article!
