@Sapph: this feature is only for links that you, site owner, add to your website while building a site.

@Sapph: Follow these steps to make your links at (forum posts and blog) open in new window.

1. Create an external link to an outside website(in your forum post or blog entry)
2. Dive straight into the HTML of the forum post/blog entry — Click the icon that looks like . You’ll know you clicked the right spot when your nicely formatted page turns into a mess of garbled HTML :)
3. Find the link that you created. If the link you created was for the phrase “newspaper” linking to the NY Times, you should look for HTML like the following:

newspaper

4. Add the following little scrap of code: target=”_blank” to that HTML:

newspaper

5. That’s it! Hit Submit/publish. When anyone clicks your modified link, it will open in a new window.

@Irina – i know, i was trying to point out that this only fixes half of the issue. I hope you will fix the other half too.

@Dentoclub – Thank you:) But it’s not my posts im worried about. I know html but most of my members do not, and in the case of forum sigs and members profiles i cannot go in and edit the html to fix the problem:(

@Vishal: In order for your website to show up in search engines you need to submit it to be crawled and ensure that you have original content on it that is updated on regular basis. For more information, check out our Promotions tab.

Hi,I think it would be great if i could open a new smaller window as an option. Any input for this would be great.

I appreciate having the new window option back; however, I am having trouble linking things in the sidebar. Can this be done? If so, can you run me through the process? If not, then I am sad. Thanks.

@Marc: Sorry not sure what you are asking. You can always add custom HTML code using the custom module when managing sidebars.

What I cant figure out is how to put links in my sidebar. I have a list of upcoming projects and I want each one to be clickable–which would bring up a new window but will just have more of my own text and pictures regarding that particular project. I don’t want to put in a html link–basically just an extenion of the website itself. Is there any way to do that?

@Vishologist: You can add custom module to your sidebar that can contain any information you wish.

Okay, thanks. I have looked at that, but I have no idea how to do it the way I want it. I will keep playing with it and see if I can figure it out! =)
