Sapph on April 17, 2010

Will people be able to easily migrate their content and members over to webs?

sanshokou on April 17, 2010

awt that’s bad for them… to all former free ning members: welcome to webs.com….

Akshay on April 17, 2010

Is there any way by which I can get all my members from ning directly to webs without having them to reregister?

Himawari Arisha on April 17, 2010

I hope webs.com give the facility and utility like in Ning.com (and better than it). HHmm, please give the tutorial, and i hope u give the facility how to move our data from ning to the webs. ( i have a lot of data in there that can’t be move manually)

bob on April 18, 2010

Welcome all new ning users.

It’s great to know that webs is trying to help other people who have lost their websites because of companies getting rid of features such as a free site. :D

Michael on April 18, 2010

I’m glad that Webs.com has the decency to allow its users to create a website for free; it must be terrible to put a lot of time into a website, and then hear that it won’t be available anymore.

Webs is here in your time of need! We know the truth is out there!

JayGame on April 19, 2010

    the Webs Team on April 19, 2010

    @JayGame: You can set your pages to be viable to members only and that is a free feature :)

There have been rumors that freewebs is considering dumping all of their free accounts. Is this true!!

    the Webs Team on April 20, 2010

    @Willow: Absolutely not :)

Deighv on April 20, 2010

I am one of those unfortunate members affected by Ning’s announcement. After discovering Webs.com I have immeditely begun transfering my Ning site here. The free option offers a lot of decent content and the premium services are a LOT cheaper than Ning’s and offer you quite a few more features. Kudos Webs.com for being there for us Ning orphans :)

Anna on April 21, 2010

I am very interested in tranferring two of my ning sites to webs.com is there any easy way to do this??

    the Webs Team on April 21, 2010

    @Anna: Unfortunately with a lot of providers you will need to rebuild the basic features of your site. However the benefit of going with Webs is that once you export your network members to a CSV file you can easily send them an automated invitation to the new Webs site using our Email Blast tool.

JayGame on April 21, 2010

@Irina/webs
i know that,
but any one can be a member just by signing up
i want people who need passwords on my site
…………………………………………….
i dont understand this bit on the home page it says:
“Its (Free) for ever”
…………………………………………….
thanks any way for reminding me that

    the Webs Team on April 21, 2010

    @JayGame: You can set in your members app instead of auto approve your site members, to manually approve as someone signs-up. That way you control who has access.

JayGame on April 22, 2010

@Webs
thanks for the help.

JayGame on April 22, 2010

@webs
one more thing…
how will i let them in my site?

    the Webs Team on April 22, 2010

    @JayGame: New member requests will show up in your Members App with option to Approve or Deny :)

    ~ Irina

Himawari Arisha` on April 23, 2010

Well, so how to migration member from webs site to ning site?

JayGame on April 23, 2010

@webs
Thanks…

Hye Ciaccia on May 3, 2010

Hello may I use some of the information from this blog if I provide a link back to your site?

    the Webs Team on May 3, 2010

    @Hye: What type of information would you like to use?

iasdveneza on May 6, 2010

The “webs” is great. The only thing I dislike is:
Because you only provide one language for the site?
I’m from Brazil and made the site for my church. They have a little difficulty reading things in English on the site.
I would love that you make available other languages such as Portuguese.

Phillip on June 23, 2010

i need help. i have a ning site called metrians.ning.com, and I know its kinda late now… The network creator of metrians.ning.com dont know that ning would close and she asked for help, in this case, it was me… there are around 1,500+ users on the network and I am worried of our users and our contents… Please help on how i migrate from ning to webs, with the accounts and the contents. We are an Alumni Club of a high school in the Philippines and we’re deciding to move on.

    the Webs Team on June 23, 2010

    @Philip: You will need to recreate your content on Webs as we do not provide migration tools. However, inviting your current members over to the new Webs site will be very easy as Ning provides simple steps for exporting member information:
    1. Log in to your Ning network
    2. Go the Manage tab and under “Manage your members” section click on Members button
    3. On the bottom right hand side of the members page click on Export All Member Data (.CSV)
    4. Click OK to start export on the message that pops-up.

    Once you have this file, go to Members App in Webs and send all your members invitation by copying all email addresses and pasting them into our email tool.

Is there any easy way to bring over pictures from a Ning site? I know the archive tool with Ning creates some json files that can be used in new sites. Can webs utilize those?

    the Webs Team on July 20, 2010

    We have a File Manager tool where you can upload files for your site. However we do not have a tool that specifically takes all your images and places them throughout the site.
