Freewebs Holding a Contest to Find the Most Innovative Widget in the World

Freewebs and WidgetBox are holding a contest for someone to make the most innovative widget on the planet. You can register here.

The contest asks you to build a widget based on your favorite pop culture character, global warming or another "green" issue, or the "Online Theory of Connectedenss" (i.e. anything goes, as long as it's viral). The grand prize is $1,000. The winner and their ground-breaking widget will be announced at the WidgetCon in New York City, on July 11. The widget will of course be featured on Freewebs, but also on Widgetbox as well. Entries are due by July 5, so that gives you less than a month to get crackin'.

The WidgetCon is held by Freewebs, and is an all day event that will be at the Tribeca Cinemas in New York. The purpose of the conference is to look towards the growth of widget making and encourage conversations around every aspect of widget creation, marketing and media strategies. Considering the recent launch of the WidgetBank on Freewebs users and the success of the Facebook Application, it's no surprise that Freewebs is looking to find and market a new widget. And what better way than to find a widget created by its users?
