Freewebs Launches Forums Widget

Update: We just added the forum widget to this post. It's really slick.

Freewebs, a social service providing free, multimedia web pages, will announce on Wednesday the launch of its forums widget. We first mentioned Freewebs back in February, when they announced their partnership with Photobucket for the incorporation of their slideshow widget.

Freewebs continues to add to their widget catalog with their new forums widget. This customizable plug-in is available for use on your Freewebs page or on another website. Wherever the "widgetized" forum resides, the conversation is updated in real time. This continuous flow of conversation truly represents the capabilities of today's widgets, and could be an ideal feature for groups of friends or small organizations.

Their forums widget has overcome a few oversights seen with other forum models, including an easy formatting tool, incorporating point-and-click and drag-and-drop functionality and removing the necessity for an administrator to have a working knowledge of html. Their unique login process means that users signing up to participate in the forums discussions will not be redirected to another site. Freewebs has also made the process of maintaining the forums widget easier, in terms of quickly removing abusive comments and adding new categories.

While Freewebs, based in Silver Springs, MD, began in 2001 as a way to create your own website, it eventually became a social networking destination in its own right. Their recent implementation of widgets characterizes Freewebs as a company looking to provide the most value for their users, for free. We like their new direction.
